WiseTails

WiseTails Pet Technologies Inc.

Privacy, in plain language.

This policy describes how WiseTails handles information when you browse our website, use an account, save care records or contact us.

Effective and last updated October 30, 2026. WiseTails Pet Technologies Inc. operates WiseTails from British Columbia, Canada. Our privacy contact is support@wisetails.ca.

Information we handle

The public care library and sample preview do not require an account. The preview uses fictional pets; its sample care changes are not saved as your personal care history.

Account and access
Your name or display name, email, account/provider identifiers, session information, care-home membership, permissions and account preferences. Password-based sign-in is handled through our authentication service.
Pet-care information
Pet profiles, handling and care notes, routines, reminders, plans, observations, measurements, veterinary contacts and drafts, and the dates and authors associated with saved changes. Free-text entries and photos can contain personal information you choose to include.
Photos and files
Uploaded photos or attachments, their file names and technical metadata, and their links to the relevant care records or Pip conversations.
Messages and activity
Support correspondence, feedback, privacy requests, saved Pip conversations and suggestions where available, feature usage and account/export/deletion events.
Website and connection information
Counts of page views and selected interactions, such as opening a care guide. Our hosting and security providers may also process connection information, including IP addresses and request logs, to deliver and protect the service.

Why we use it

We use information to authenticate accounts, save and retrieve care history, operate reminders and sharing, prepare exports and veterinary summaries, provide available Pip features, answer requests, and maintain the service. Usage information helps us understand which features work and where the product needs improvement.

Information you save is used for the features you use and the care home it belongs to. Browsing a public guide does not publish your private care records. Public account registration is currently paused while we prepare the mobile launch.

Sharing and service providers

Care-home owners choose which pets and actions to share with caregivers or viewers. When you create a veterinary report link, someone with that link can access the report’s selected information while the link remains valid. Downloads, copied drafts and messages you send can create copies outside WiseTails.

We use service providers to operate WiseTails. These include Supabase for authentication; Cloudflare and OpenAI’s Sites hosting for hosting, databases and file storage; Resend for account-related email delivery; and OpenAI for available AI features. The information sent depends on the provider’s role. Support messages are also processed by the email service used for our support inbox.

Providers may process information outside British Columbia or Canada, where different laws may apply. We may also disclose information when required by law or when necessary to investigate misuse, protect the service or respond to a security issue.

Retailer, affiliate and other external links lead to services with their own privacy practices. Affiliate links can identify a referral to the retailer or affiliate network. Read our affiliate disclosure.

Pip and AI

When an available Pip conversation uses an AI provider, your question, relevant conversation history, selected pet context, related records or saved preferences, and attached photos can be sent to OpenAI to produce a reply.

Saved Pip suggestions are a separate feature. When enabled, they can be refreshed in the background using pet details, relevant recent observations, care-plan check-ins, preferences and guide content. This processing is not limited to messages you type in a chat. Use the Pip guidance settings to turn saved suggestions off, or contact us about your choices.

WiseTails stores the conversations, attachments and suggestions associated with these features. AI-provider processing and retention also follow the provider’s applicable terms. Only include information you want considered for that question or care suggestion; contact us if you want help withdrawing consent or removing information.

Cookies and device storage

WiseTails uses authentication cookies and session information to keep you signed in. Some browser storage supports unfinished care-note drafts, interface preferences and duplicate-count prevention for website usage measurements. Quick Log drafts are scoped to the account and care home, and are not restored after 24 hours.

You can clear cookies or site storage through your browser. Doing so may sign you out or remove an unfinished draft. Clearing browser storage does not delete care records already saved to your account.

Retention and your choices

We retain account and care information to provide the service and keep the history you save. Removing an entry from an active timeline may leave revision or audit information. Support and security records may be retained as needed to resolve requests, investigate problems or meet legal requirements.

Owners can export their care-home data and schedule care-home deletion in Privacy & data. Scheduled owner deletion has a 30-day cancellation period before the care-home removal process. Limited identifiers and deletion-completion information may remain for administration, security or legal requirements; deleting WiseTails records does not remove copies already downloaded or shared outside the service.

Caregivers, viewers and people who cannot sign in can request account deletion by email. We verify identity and explain the effect on shared records before completing a request. Service-provider records can have separate retention periods; ask us about a particular type of information.

You can request access to or correction of personal information, ask about retention, raise a privacy concern, or withdraw consent for optional processing. Withdrawing consent may limit the features that depend on that processing.

Contact and requests

Email support@wisetails.ca and describe your privacy question or request. Where possible, use the email associated with your WiseTails account. We may ask for information needed to verify your identity and locate the correct account.

We use account permissions and access controls to restrict private records. Please keep your sign-in details and shared report links private, and avoid including someone else’s personal information without their permission.

We will update this page as our practices change and show the effective date above. Where a change requires new consent, we will seek it before applying that change. Visit support for account and technical help.
